THE END OF CRITICAL LITERACY

At last, this is my final entry about Critical Literacy which means that I had already complete my study on this subject and this semester will end soon enough without I even realize. Before this, I’m quite terrified with this subject as I heard a lot of negative comments  from the seniors but after several months struggling and doing a lot of practice I’m quite enjoy learning this subject as it changes my perception and able to increase my critical thinking.

This is one of the rare subject that have its own value and learning skills that provide students to have a method that help them to gain a better knowledge and able to understand difficult articles by reading, research and define whether it is facts or opinion. It is tough at the beginning but with the help of my friends and Madam Zariati I can survive and manage to overcome this subject with the skills that I had learning during these several month. Furthermore, I able to analyze more efficiently than before as I can do critical thinking in a short-time thanks to the “Rule of Ten” which help me to force my mind to awake and find solutions for any problems.

Other than that, I can assume that the purpose of this subject is not only for our results but also a tendency in life that can help people to develop confidence in their understanding by reading, writing and communication. The materials from this subject is important in life as its acquire me to use my own mind and perception to others and have a good judgment about certain things in any situation. By learning this subject, I will be able to make a preparation for the future and have a high skills in solving problems which is in reading and writing. Also, this subject help me growth in a good manner towards maturity as we often been given a lot of issues that we need to solve in group and individual.

What can I suggest about this topic is students need to be more exposed in doing a lot of interesting activities that enable them to think and give their understanding. This will make the subject more interesting to learn and fun to do as it will given an opportunity for the students to learn in a exciting way. The lecturer should conduct a personal meeting with a slow learner as its take time for them to fully understand and adapt with  critical thinking.

I will make an conclusion about this subject by saying this subject is a guideline for students to have a professional skills in academic and life. When we have a proper skills we can make a good adjustment and a brilliant ideas that give benefit to ourselves. There are more than critical when it meets literacy and from that we will able to use our thinking wisely and overcome any challenges that we may face on in the future. I’m sure I will miss this subject and appreciate all the knowledge that my lecturer share with me and all my classmates. I hope and wish all a good luck and it has been a great times with all of my fellow friends and the knowledge that we gain every single day. Thank you Madam Zariati for all the efforts and farewell to Critical Literacy.

Perak starts online tutorials for students

In this 21^st century, we lived in the world of modern and improving society that rich in technology and education. We have an access that provided us with a lot of information from the technology itself and this shows that this is our life tools and nowadays, technology is everything and we need technology as our life depending on it to have a successful life. I have an opinion regarding to the newspaper about an online education. According to the newspaper excerpt “ Perak Starts Online Tutorials For Students” dated 25^th February, 2013 taken from NST I’m completely agreed  with this methods that educated students using technology to study. This kind of learning style is efficient and easy for students to expand their knowledge and increase their problem solving thinking with the information they may find.

This learning style is not only for students but also can be an advantage for the teachers to deliver their teaching effectively. With the technology, it is a vital and help the teachers to make the students easy to understand in a certain subject by using an easy method like for example, showing the students a video and explaining without referring to the textbook that complicated for the students to understand. Also, it can improve the students lifestyle as this online tutorial is not only for gain knowledge-based on school but a developing knowledge-based society that improvise their thinking in study and life.

Moreover, this system can motivate the students to study more even in they are not in school. They be able to study on their own and doing a practice that been provided through the system and managed to gain any information that they might not get from school. It is a learning style that gives both students and teachers to feels relaxed and save time by helping those who struggled in their studies. Each students can do a lot of revision and overcome their weakness with the content from it.

In conclusion, learning through online tutorials managed by Star Vitalnet Technology Sdn Bhd is such an effective ways and a brilliant ideas as it is futuristic and a preparation for our students to have a better mindset that encourage them to study more and gain a better results in their exam. It is a good experience for them to adulthood and have a good career in the future as they already adapt with technology and more advanced.

Flash of pride

Our country is our home, our identity and our pride. We have lived in peace after the invasion from British for a long period of time with their rules and regulations. We able to regain freedom and become one of the independence country in the world and achieve many great things thanks to our leader that had skills and knowledge that change our country, Malaysia to be a better place and had been develop since then. As our country developing, we gain respect from other countries and able to improve our business in market, high education and making profit with other countries. This shows that Malaysia is a peaceful country and truly until this day we lived in peace and had a international relationship with other countries.

From the headline “FLASH OF PRIDE” taken from NST dated August 26^th, 2013 I can understand what is the meaning of the picture and the purpose. This is the evidence that our national country is a fighter and the sacrifice of our heroes that gives their full strength to protect our country. It is a reminder to our nation about the difficulties and the invasion that we able to prevent it from continue to this day. We had been celebrating a certain occasion  that we called it “Malaysia Independence Day” or “Hari Merdeka” on 31 August every year by singing our national song, waving our Jalur Gemilang flag to show our patriotism and many more.

As for me, I can only assume that our country had been independence since our first independence day on 1957 raised from our first Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman.  We had growth far more better compared to other countries due we lived with multi-cultures people with three differences in-term of races, religion and cultures among Malay, Chinese and India. We are moving forward with our traditional cultures that had become main attraction from other countries and one of the most popular place for tourism. This is one of the achievement that proof our country is independence and developing. Also, Malaysia is a nation that standing proud as it’s become the “eye of the world” and have a variety of impressive things such as Petronas Twin Tower, KLIA, Sepang Circuit and not to mention our traditional food from different cultures that most people want to try. Malaysia  also have a professional athletes like Dato Lee Chong Wei and Nicole David that won a lot of competition and a strong sportsmen and sportswomen in Asia. This is the evidence from one of our country achievement this far.

To conclude, I’m grateful and thankful to be one of the native in this country as a Malaysian. Our country had strive many impossible things that use our weakness as one of our strength and this is show how independence this country had become in these years. We keep on improving and continue to develop with our achievements and efforts that we put on for this country.

“MARRYING MONEY” is the young woman, older man…

 “Marrying Money” is the young woman, older man where talking about a young woman who marrying an older man that have a great amount of money and wealth that can provide anything in terms of need, wants and demands that’s important in human life and satisfaction. When it comes to this statement, many people will judge that certain young woman is a beautiful, feminine and attractive woman that only approach men that is rich enough that can give a lot of luxury things such as jewelry, expensive dress, handbag, shoes and others that people claims the young woman as a “gold-digger”. Without any facts and evidence people tends to judge others and this is what they called stereotyping-exaggerated generalizations associated with categorizing system, they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. However, it is also something that most people find difficult to avoid from doing.

 Nowadays, it is pretty common that a young woman married old man to have a husband and wife relationship but some of people see it as a bad relationship because of the age gap. This negative perception can only cause bad impact in society because categorizing someone we don’t know without knowing their reasons from doing so. People always claim that when a young woman married an old man is because of his wealth and can provide a comfortable life like a princess that can satisfied any demands from shopping by spending a lot of money as for old men many label them as a pervert and only wants a young beautiful wife that have a nice figure that can lure any men and catch their eyes like a hungry person that wants to eat something big.

 As for me, I don’t quite agree with this kind of statement that is because not all young woman and older man are the same. It’s not about the money but more important and can give a happy life in a different way. Young woman are very sensitive and need attention from their partner, they may married old men not because of their money but their maturity and have a responsibility that can make them feel secure and love.  As for older man, they are the leader when having a family so they hold responsibilities in caring it. The reason most man wants to have a younger wife not only because of their figure and youth but because of their attitude as a young woman that makes every each of man feels attracted and wants to protect it. They also wants to guide their woman in a good manner and shows them that they have a great personality as a leader and matured in certain ways.

 Have a happy life with our partner is not mean to have a lot of money, but to have a lot of sweet memories together and lead this kind of relationship to a better future. Every marriage needs love and understanding to defend our relationship and gives convenience towards each other without using money. This shows that even we have a lot of money that is not a guaranteed that money can provide us happiness and fulfill our life with a meaningful relationship. That’s why not every young woman who married older man are the same, it is their right to married with each other because of money or because of loves. We as outsider should not simply judge these people based on their appearance without knowing their feelings. Don’t judge a book by its cover as it is a wrong thing to do and may hurt others without even we realize it.

THE CRITICAL LITERACY

 What is Critical Literacy? That is my first thought about this subject that I will taken in semester 4. There are a lot of grievances comments from the previous senior that this subject is hard to understand and difficult to get an A. “You must be well-prepared when you face this subject as it’s quite different from any subject that you had taken, most of us are not satisfied with our result and some of us even have to repeat this subject” said one of the former senior. At first, I was not very concern about it but after I heard this kind of statement from the senior I began to feel restless and worried about this subject. They also said that “ You need to do a lot of reading and give a full effort to passed this subject because this subject will force you to practice a lot of thinking and test your understanding skills in different level of situation”. I presume that this is a killer subject that I will faced this semester and feel nervous what will happened to me?.

 I’m quite terrified when I taken this subject as I will have the same situation like the previous senior but I make it as a challenge that I can overcome it. When I study this subject I agreed with the seniors that this subject is tough but I also gain a good  benefit through this subject that will help me in the future. Despite all the comments and view about this subject I take it as a positive way, after all this subject can help me to approach and improve my reading and thinking skills in critical level to find solution in particular problems, This subject is an accessed  to a greater knowledge that is essential for academic and even in our daily life. To have a good result in Critical Literacy I need to spend a lot of time by doing research and reading as it use our critical thinking to answer the question.

 Moreover, this subject exposed to us in learning environment which is good and enable we as a students to have a good perspective and able to analyze any article in Rule of 10. With critical thinking I can provide a lot of ideas and arguments to find any evidence from any text whether it’s a fact or opinion. This subject is quite fun actually as all we need to do is to read and practice our mind to give a brilliant results as we can create awareness on current issues in society and even the world like the missing plane MH370 that many people give a lot of speculation about the case.

 In this semester, I hope that I can perform well in this subject and fully understand what this subject is all about especially in the Rule of 10 that is essential for all semester 4 students to master in order to passed this subject. I have to give my full concentration to avoid any confusing things and I really need to change my learning method and thinking as a grown up to get an A in this subject even it is not easy to achieve. Also, I wished that I can have a better thinking and not failed in this subject same goes to all semester 4 that involved in this subject I wish to you all good luck and able to achieve our own goal in this subject.
